Green Cove is perfectly situated to take advantage of the hunting & fishing opportunities within the Cherokee National Forest.

FISHING

Tellico River is primarily known for its incredible fishing opportunites.  According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency: Fishing rules and regulations on the Tellico River are managed through the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.  For a full list of these rules and regulations, please visit TWRA’s website HERE.  You will be able to purchase fishing and hunting licenses at the Green Cove Angler store.

HUNTING

Wild turkey, white-tailed deer, black bear, wild boar, squirrel, and raccoons are just a few of the species of game animals that can be hunted.

A variety of game animals are hunted in the Cherokee National Forest. Wild turkey, ruffed grouse, white-tailed deer, black bear, wild boar, squirrel, raccoon, etc can be found throughout the Forest.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resource agency please know that:

  • The Cherokee NF is managed cooperatively by the Forest Service and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) as a Wildlife Management Area (WMA). State law applies to activities within the national forests.
  • You can obtain a license and regulation guide at most retail stores.
  • Hunting and Fishing seasons, regulations and bag limits are set by TWRA.
